Do you ever even think of a building in relation to the Arts & Crafts Movement?

Take a visit to Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House, and you will start to see all the little details in a building differently. A great place to visit if you are looking for something to do at the weekend, or one afternoon. Beautiful details, cafe and wonderful view of Lake Windermere.

If you head there between now and 4th June 2023, you will able to see the truly gorgeous exhibition by Amy Williams. There is the most incredible tiny details in the paper installation, ‘Unearthed’ and the stories behind the homage to extraordinary women in history are really interesting. Perfect for both adults and children to view.

I took a lot of photos at Blackwell of the details and Amy’s exhibition but I am not sharing too many here, so you can have a snippet of inspiration and discover the rest on your visit.

For interest, The Arts & Craft Movement, founded by John Ruskin and William Morris, was a reaction against the age of industrial revolution and brought about a philosophy and a visual commitment to the handmade and the value of it. It helped reform the design and manufacture of everything from buildings to jewellery.
