Yet again we took the opportunity to visit the Kendal Mountain Festival this year and as always came away so very inspired. We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep, so to speak, as it is only a 20 minute drive away and the atmosphere is so good. There is something for everyone and you don’t have to climb mountains to appreciate the things on offer. There are books, art exhibitions, presentations, films, yoga, vegan food, challenges for the kids, a 10K race, real people living their lives in the adventure world to talk to, gear for sale and the odd ‘Sir’ walking around – yes Sir Chris Bonington was there casually chatting about his epic achievements.

We noticed a step up this year in the promotion of protecting our outdoor playground and making more sustainable choices and our phone images show you a sample of this. We watched films on fish farming, climbing and fell running and listened to presentations on ethical outdoor clothing and the science behind how cold water and breathing can affect your body. The three films we watched and would absolutely recommend are Artifishal, Climbing Blind and Running The Wainwrights.
