When you come from Leicester, which is 2 hours minimum from any coast, you really miss a beach life. So moving to Cumbria and being only 40 minutes, or an hour away from the seaside, it is wonderful.
We had previously stayed in Morecambe and been treated to a stunning sunset so it is nice to know a good old British Seaside town is within a 40 minutes driving distance. (It has taken me that to get across a city in rush hour in the past!)
Thanks to a lovely friend, we have discovered a dog friendly beach in the Lake District and like our favourite beaches in Wales, it is a quiet little place with no frills, but just stunning scenery. Roanhead beach is perfect for that walk along the beach and a cheeky beer (if you plan ahead) as the sun goes down.
If anyone knows of any other recommendations of beaches in the Lake District and Cumbria we would love to hear from you.
Please join the campaign to save this beautiful beach from development. An application for 450 lodges has been submitted and we are fighting hard to preserve this beautiful place for future generations
